James Arthur Crowned This Year’s X Factor Winner
Author: admin | Filed under: Music NewsThe result that we have all been waiting for – James Arthur has won this year’s X factor final!
Beating Jahmene Douglas to win the competition’s prestigious recording contract and prize money, it was James’s rendition of Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get It On’ and his choice of winner’s song, Shontelle’s ‘Impossible’, that led to him scoping the win during the show’s live final.
Minutes after being declared this year’s winner, James, 24, said: “I don’t believe it…I’ve just got to say thank you to the people who voted for me…”
His mentor Nicole Scherzinger was also visibly thrilled with the result and described James as a ‘fighter’. On his win, Nicole said this:
“He wanted this, he willed this to happen. He deserves this so much.
“And Jahmene – I’m so proud of both my boys.”
James is originally from Saltburn by the Sea in north Yorkshire. Having gigged for several years in his local area, it is said that only at the very last moment did James decided to audition for the X Factor, after friends reasoned that ‘he had nothing to lose.’
Not long since his victorious win and James is already reaping the rewards of his success. His debut single ‘Impossible’ has already clocked up a whopping 255,000 sales – giving James the fastest selling single of 2012. This is another first for The X Factor, as never before has an X Factor finalists’ debut single hit such heights so quickly.
The proceeds from James Arthur’s single will be going to the children’s charity – Together For Short Lives – who support children and the families of children with life-limiting conditions.
